Presentation

The Rencontres d’Arles will celebrate its 50th anniversary in July 2019.

To mark the occasion, the festival is asking the visitors, participants and witnesses of those 50 years of photography to share their memories and archives.

Photographs, videos, sound recordings, digitalized documents (newspapers, posters, letters, etc.) and testimonies can be uploaded to a participatory platform.

A huge digital album tracing the festival’s five decades is online.

We cannot imagine celebrating our anniversary without you: share with us your collections of images of the founding fathers and 20th-century photography giants run into around a corner, met at a table or a course; the morning debates under the hackberry that followed thunderous applause or stormy protests during evenings at the Roman Theater, projections to the sound of clicking Kodak carrousels or your arrivals in Arles in a gleaming 2CV, your memories of the gardens of the Hôtel Arlatan or the Place du Forum.

Share with us 50 years of photography history written by all those who participated in this great collective adventure.
